! (nme.com) Blur’s DAVE ROWNTREE has scotched rumours
that his band's new album is almost complete, saying they were "closer to
the start of the process than the end". Rowntree was at
the Houses Of Parliament this afternoon (March 20), attending
the official launch of the All Party Music Group, a
cross-political group of MPs intending to work for the interests of the British
music industry. Speaking exclusively to NME.COM, Rowntree
confirmed Blur were returning to the studio in May but added: "All
speculation in the NME about the title of the singles, or what
we have recorded, is giving us all a good laugh. We are closer to the start of
the process than the end." The album, the follow-up to 1999's '13',
will not be released until next year, he added. Last week Blur frontman Damon
Albarn said they had recorded 14 songs and that one of them, 'Don't
Bomb When You Are the Bomb', was likely to be the new single. Rowntree
was joined at the launch by a number of industry big wigs including Rob
Dickins, Chairman of the BPI (British
Phonographic Industry) and super-producer and 'Pop Idol'
judge Pete Waterman.

13.03.02 : BLUR'S NEW SINGLE
'BOMB'SHELL
(nme.com) Vocalist
Damon Albarn has been on tour with Gorillaz across
North America throughout March. Speaking to MTV news, he said
that his original group were hoping to put the finishing touches to the record
in a month long studio session in May. Approximately 14 songs have already been
recorded, but Albarn said that one song, 'Don't Bomb
When You Are the Bomb', could be a single. However, he was unwilling
to discuss the direction of the band's new music or the content of the lyrics,
simply commenting: "I can't really say anything about it, because if I
did, you wouldn't want me back here (in the US) next time." Blur 's
new album, the follow-up to 1999's '13', is due for release
later this year or early 2003.

: LIGHTNING STROKES COXON
(dotmusic) Graham has
joined the all-consuming frenzy surrounding The Strokes, claiming
"they might save pop music". Coxon, who released his third
solo album 'Crow Sit On Blood Tree' last month, told us the New York
City rock and roll heroes had made him cry, such was their impact on him. He
explained: "I love The Strokes. I was thanking somewhere for them
this morning. They might save pop music. That's pop music to me. "I'm old,
so pop's not really my bag, but they bring tears to my eyes, because I've
needed them for so long. You know, a new groove. Anything is possible with The
Strokes, that's the beauty of it." Meanwhile, Coxon explains in
the interview what the future holds for Blur as they prepare to
reconvene in the studio to record their first album since 1999's '13'. CLICK HERE for the full interview.
22.08.01 : GRAHAM REMIXES "Beauty Dies Young" BY LOWGOLD : it's on their new single released on august 27th on Nude. *cheers Dezz*
30.07.01
: BLUR'S TEST OF FAITH (nme.com) Graham has
said that when BLUR enter the studio with MARIANNE FAITHFULL it will help them
work out which direction they should take on their new album. Blur
are to record 'Your Time Will Come', their contribution to the
forthcoming album by Marianne Faithful, within the next week.
The Damon Albarn penned song will be sung by Faithfull,
with the possibility of Albarn providing backing vocals. Now,
speaking in an interview with the London Evening Standard's
website, www.thisislondon.co.uk , guitarist Coxon
said the time in the studio will have larger repercussions for Blur's
forthcoming record. He said: "It'll be a good test to see where we all are
in our outlooks. My current outlook is so different from anywhere I've been
before. It's going to be interesting." Blur are due to
record new material with Fatboy Slim later this year. Coxon
has recently completed his third solo album. Titled 'Crow Sit On Blood
Tree', the record is released on August 6. Speaking about his new
record, he said working on his own album was different to the studio sessions
with Blur. He commented: "(When you are in a band) it's
like an audition in which you're waiting in the queue and stressing, then the
producer says, 'You're next!' and you have an hour to do something good. With
my own album I had been mulling over the songs for months, then went into the
studio and translated exactly what was in my head onto tape in a few
days."
